Found out from ANN today that Marvel Entertainment has announced that anime powerhouse Madhouse will produce four new anime series featuring adapted Marvel characters. Two of the characters include Wolverine and Iron Man and this is for the Japanese market.
This is nothing new for Madhouse. Previously they worked on two episodes of Batman: Gotham Knight. For those who didn’t know, Batman: Gotham Knight explores events that happened between the movies Batman Begins and The Dark Knight.
Anyway, the anime version of Iron Man is set to debut in a 12-episode series in Japan in the spring of 2010. Since it is for the Japanese market, Madhouse will adapt the look of the characters to fit the anime style, and the stories, including the characters’ backstories and histories, will be adapted to incorporate Japanese culture and history.

After DC came out with Gotham Knights, Marvel too plans to turn some of their superheroes into anime style. Marvel is partnering Japanese animation studio Madhouse to create characters inspired by the Marvel Universe for the Japanese market, starting with Iron Man and Wolverine.
Madhouse is currently in production on the first of four new half-hour series scheduled to launch in spring 2010. More about this at Animation Magazine.
