As if the smashing box office is not enough, now .. there’s Bat Anime. they really know how to milk out the money from fans.

Got my copy of Batman: Gotham Knight last weekend at the usual place. It’s a two disc (DVD) special edition and priced at RM39.90. Batman: Gotham Knight is actually released prior to the opening of The Dark Knight.

It is a collection of six anime shorts which depicts a different side of Batman. There seems to be a certain continuity in the stories, but being written by different writers and produced by different anime studios, the link is quite weak. The stories are also not interrelated. Even the anime style if different from one another. Nevertheless, I am impressed.

Batman and Dark Knight fans will just love this.

Finished 4 episodes last night :). The first one, Have I Got a Story for You, is quite interesting. Batman from the views of 4 kids whom perceived him as a shadow, a monster, a machine and a normal human being. The characters are cartoon like but the background is highly detailed. Funny that it was done that way.

The 4th, In Darkness Dwells, looks more like a sequel of Batman Begins. Well, it’s written by David Goyer who wrote Batman Begins.

Anyway, I am not going to spoil it for you. Go and Get yourself a copy.

Simple Plan To Be Animated

Yes, you read me right. Simple Plan, the pop rock band will be animated in the Animax Asia production, LaMB.

LaMB is about people on a planet called Cerra, who are imprisoned by a “laminated suit” that makes them virtual slaves.

LaMB, which will air in February 2009, is Animax Asia first full-length animation film. It cost over RM2.4M to make, is produced by Animax Asia (which is owned by Sony Pictures Entertainment Networks) and a Singapore based animation studio, Peach Blossom Media.

I played a few Gundams before, but all were like play a few levels and I am done. Even bought an old title of Macross[link] last week. Don’t like it either. I’m still thinking whether I should upgrade to XBox 360, PS3 or Wii?

Star Wars: The Clone Wars

This is something from George Lucas that looks like a Japanese Animation That’s what I read from the premier reviews. Star Wars: The Clone Wars, is a prequel to Episode III (Revenge of the Sith). Here, Anakin Skywalker has a 14-year-old student Jedi, Ahsoka Tano.

As civil war rages through the galaxy, Anakin Skywalker and his new apprentice, Ahsoka Tano, find themselves on a mission with far-reaching consequences. But Count Dooku and his sinister agents will stop at nothing to ensure that they fail at their quest. Meanwhile, on the front lines, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Master Yoda lead the massive clone army in a valiant effort to resist the forces of the dark side.

The movie will arrive in theaters in Malaysia on August 14.
